2010 / JUNE / UK BASS / JUNE 25

Episode 2 of our UK BASS series happens on Friday June 25th. Like the first UK BASS special in March, this gig is also a celebration of the rich heritage of Bass music to originate and develop in the UK. From the early beginnings from Rave and breakbeat, through to Jungle, Dnb, Garage and now Dubstep, on Friday 25th of June UK Bass will be showcased in its many styles and flavours.

Dubstep will still be the main focus of the night and to showcase the fresh new beats we welcome (finally) the CROOKED SOUND SYSTEM crew from Canberra. Holding down the Dubstep sound in the nation’s capital, Crooked Sound System are right on it with fresh new beats and collaborations with some of the UK’s big names producers as well some of the best DJ skill around. Also on the Dubstep tip we have FARJ bringing somewhat of a history lesson on where the sound of Dubstep started and where it is today. Together with PAUL FRASER, FARJ was one half of Garage Pressure and as the sound of UK Garage evolved into Dubstep these guys were at the forefront of the new sound that we see today. Not forgetting the many (now forgotten) Dubplate’s this guy has, we can expect as set of classics, anthems and ground breaking tunes that defined the scene and informed what we hear today. SWINDLE round’s thing off on a Dubstep vibe, expect something different from this guy and also plenty of Grime.

To change things up for the rest of the night we have PREECHA, MARK PRITCHARD and JAMES DAAK. Preecha is one of the freshest Dj’s around right now, in playing a distinct style of Future Garage his sound is untouched in Sydney and we expect big things from this guy in the future. James Daak from Low Society changes things up also with an exclusive hardcore breakbeat set. Expect rave classics and aaardcore beats from this guys amazing oldskool collection. When talking oldskool its also hard to go past Mark Pritchard. He has a habit of creeping the odd drum and bass and jungle classic into his sets but on this night expect nothing but drum and bass and jungle. He is under strict instructions to pretend its 1995 again, for an hour at least..

All this for $10 and Hijack sound is standard.
