+ STARKEY + MC HALFCAST / MARCH 6

BUY TICKETS

VOID gets heavier than ever this March with the one and only Starkey. After a sellout show in February with Rusko and Deadbeat, VOID is back with 2 floors of the best in bass music on March 6. Spectrum line-up to be announced soon…

Hailing from Philadelphia, PJ Geissinger has been performing as Starkey for only four years and has already garnered International attention for his energetic live/DJ performances and original sound. Starkey is co-owner of Slit Jockey Records and a member of the Seclusiasis and Trouble and Bass crews. In 2005, Starkey won both the North American and Mid-Atlantic Laptop Battles, in Seattle and Washington D.C. respectively. He was also featured in the Philadelphia City Paper's 2005 Spring Music Issue and awarded the Choice Award for "Best UK Grime DJ in Philly" along with Dev79. Following this success stateside Starkey was selected by Vex'd as one of seven new DJs for Radio 1's Mary Anne Hobbes’ Dubstep elite 'Generation Bass' special and was the only non-UK DJ to be chosen.

Following up his 2006 debut on Werk Discs, "Local Headlines", Starkey's latest album "Ephemeral Exhibits" dropped last year on the world famous Planet Mu label. In the past 2 years, Starkey has had a string of vinyl, CD and digital releases on labels such as Peace-Off/Ruff (France), Nonclassical (UK), Dead Homies (US), Starksound/Rag&Bone (UK), Offshore (US) and LoDubs (US), Zombydub (UK), and Dress 2 Sweat (UK).

Joining Starkey direct from Philly is MC Halfcast. Christopher Cole, better known by many as "Halfcast" has been crisscrossing the planet since the tender age of 19. Halfcast has made Philly his home for the last couple of years but has in the past lay down roots and his conscious unhurried flow in London, Sydney, Harlem and New York. Touring Australia and New Zealand in early March with Philly's street bass king Starkey - expect to hear big things coming from this sought after spit kicker.

Halfcast along with Starkey is the lead vocalist for Philadelphia's electronic outfit Aunt Jessica. The band has released a full length record in 2006 entitled "Knowing Someone's There" off Rope-a-Dope records. In 2007 Halfcast also released an EP on the Dub Consiracy label with longtime collaborator DJ Semper-Fi. With several solid releases under his belt Halfcast has also been featured on several compilation throughout his career. He has collaborated with such artist as Budspells, Monkfly, Islington45, and Cook n Kitch, Schoolz of Thought, Shadowhuntaz, Sqeaque-Ezie, Foreign Dub, Semper Fi and of course Starkey.

Starkey is supported by another red hot local line up with the diverse and original sounds of Victim, Semper-Fi, Farj, Moriarty and Typhonic. Fresh out of the studio, Semper Fi is teaming up with long time collaborator MC Halfcast - we can expect some new sounds from these heavyweights. Farj who needs no introduction, is one half of Garage Pressure and the main man behind Australia's premier dubstep label Aquatic Lab. To bring even more diversity we have welcomed back Moriarty from Ro Sham Bo. Recent additions to the Void roster, Moriarty and Ro Sham Bo absolutely killed it at N-Type in January and shouldn't be missed. Also needing no introduction is Typhonic. Having rep'ed the Dubstep sound at parties all over Sydney, his fast paced DJ style is something that has to be experienced firsthand. And of course Victim, the main man behind Void continues to bring only the finest tunes month after month.
