+ KITO / JUNE 5

‘Worryingly Good’ - Skream

At the tender age of 21, KITO is the latest rising star of a growing young dubstep elite. Keeping company with the likes of Skream, Kulture and Joker, her sound has been described by BBC Radio1’s Mary Anne Hobbs as “a poetic take on dubstep”.

Kito’s musical accolades to date include the DJ Idol competition at Roller (Australia’s longest running Drum n Bass night) and the best new talent in the 2005 Perth Dance Music Awards. After a live hiatus that saw her return to the studio to develop her sound, her song ‘What If’ was heard by Skream in 2008, which he immediately signed to his label along with ‘Cold’. She has since received worldwide attention, putting her stamp on the exploding global dubstep map.

Of course, gaining airplay on the UK’s Radio1 and Rinse FM plus Australia’s Triple J is just the beginning with 2009 bringing the release of Kito’s first EP on Skream’s Disfigured Dubz label.
