2007 / OCTOBER / LOCAL SHOWCASE

VOID returns for October with an eclectic array of Dubstep, Grime, Electronica and IDM. VOID welcomes vocalist Steve Spacek to the line-up for the first time, aswell as the return of internationally renown DJ-Producer Mark Pritchard. To round off an all-star line-up we have DJ-Producer Semper-Fi, the eclectic Bec Paton and Somefreak, as well as bass freaks ZeroDub and Victim.

MARK PRITCHARD

In the very early 90's Mark Pritchard stepped into the music business, teamed up with Tom Middleton and formed Global Communication and recorded under many different styles of music under various project names to much critical acclaim. Most recently he records as Trouble Man for Far Out Records, Harmonic 313 on Warp and collaborates with Steve Spacek creating some of the most original productions in todays music world. Mark also worked at several Red Bull Music Academy editions as part of the studio/music production crew. Mark is back after his extensive European tour. This internationally acclaimed DJ-Producer is notorious for always bringing the freshest sounds and latest dubplates to the decks. Mark's set is one not to be missed.

STEVE SPACEK

Together with Mark Pritchard, Steve Spacek is Australia's representative for the infamous Red Bull Music Academy. Steve Spacek is the main man behind the groundbreaking and genre pushing group SPACEK. Having worked with artists such as J-Dilla (Common / Erykah Badu / Busta Rhymes / Tribe Called Quest), the London singer has gained respect with albums on (among others) the labels Far Out Recordings and !K7. Steve Spacek hosts VOID for the first time with his unique futuristic vocal style.

SEMPER-FI

Semper-Fi is quickly developing as one of this country's most exciting producers. He has also joined forces with foreign agent MC Halfcast on special assignment from Philadelphia, USA, to bring their first release for the Dub Conspiracy label on the self-titled debut compilation. 'Freedim Meaning' brings together sounds of dancehall and hip-hop to bring the ruckus, feeding fire to Halfcast's explosive conscious lyrics spat in true east coast form. As a duo the pair have recently finished their debut EP for the Dub Conspiracy label. Needless to say this has brought on a new focus primarily on production for the immediate future

BEC PATON

Its easy to get excited about Bec Paton because she is so obviously excited the music herself. Even though every set is different and musically she is continually moving, the sonic experiments mood and texture are always inviting and never alienating. (2SER Radio)
